Balfour Beatty Asset & Technology Solutions (ATS) is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to step into a lead commercial position as a Managing Quantity Surveyor (MQS). The role will provide people‑management, commercial leadership and strategic input across a fast‑growing national portfolio within the Temporary Site Services (TSS) team. You will work closely with senior stakeholders and have the opportunity to grow alongside a high‑performing ATS team.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Temporary Site Services Business Manager to deliver end‑to‑end commercial support across the TSS operation.
- Produce month‑end accounts, forecast financials and report to the Site Services finance and leadership teams.
- Manage risk, opportunity and debt, ensuring robust commercial controls and accurate annual forecasts.
- Provide contractual and commercial advice to pre‑construction and operational teams, including strategy for upcoming works.
- Lead and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrators, focusing on mentoring and upskilling.
- Ensure commercial alignment and cohesion with other ATS and Site Services business areas.
- Lead contractual processes such as Early Warning Notices (EWN), Compensation Events (CEs) and final accounts.
- Report commercial performance and progress to senior project and business leaders.
- Manage commercial relationships with clients, customers and key stakeholders.
- Evaluate, negotiate and appoint subcontractors and suppliers.
About You
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge within construction, M&E or infrastructure environments.
- Experience supporting or leading small commercial teams.
- Confident communicator, able to influence at multiple levels.
- Strong business and customer awareness.
- Proactive, resilient and tenacious problem‑solving approach.
- Able to identify and manage commercial risk and opportunity.
- Committed to developing others and promoting ATS and Balfour Beatty values.
- Full UK driving licence (required).
