About the Role

At Balfour Beatty you’ll shape live national infrastructure by delivering the full Laleham 132kV Substation Extension. Join a tight‑knit delivery squad that collaborates workshop‑style, planning together, solving problems face‑to‑face, and celebrating progress as one team. Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑end M&E delivery from detailed planning and temporary works to pre‑commissioning, commissioning and clean handover.
  • Turn design intent into a buildable, safe, right‑first‑time plan: run task briefs, permits, ITPs and keep quality tight with progressing assurance.
  • Orchestrate interfaces across mechanical, electrical, P&C, civils and HV specialists: de‑risk energisation windows and coordinate OEMs and subcontractors.
  • Drive the short‑interval schedule, keep cost, change and risks visible and controlled.
  • Champion zero‑harm and CDM: lead with clear RAMS, permits, isolations and a “stop, think, act” mindset.
  • Brief clearly, listen actively and keep stakeholders (client and delivery partners) fully aligned.

Qualifications

  • Proven M&E delivery in substations, industrial or heavy infrastructure, comfortable with method statements, permits, ITPs, TQs, change and site leadership.
  • Confident interpreting drawings/specs and translating them into safe, sequenced work.
  • Strong planner/communicator who keeps lookaheads realistic, removes blockers and holds a calm line under time pressure.
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical or Electrical (or equivalent).
  • SMSTS/SSSTS, CSCS/ECS desirable; National Grid/substation experience a plus.
