Balfour Beatty Highways is seeking a Section Engineer to join our team on the A66 scheme. As part of our Highways business, you will play a key role in maintaining, managing, and operating major highway networks across the UK. Our work supports local authorities and helps create communities where people want to live, work, and play. We are committed to delivering reliable, sustainable, and innovative solutions, always prioritising safety, efficiency, and the highest standards in every project we undertake.
What you will be doing:
- Carry out complex setting out.
- Coaches subordinates in the use of setting out techniques.
- Produces Activity Control Plans.
- Actively uses the Specification as a reference document.
- Maintains a comprehensive filing system of quality records.
- Identifies, raises and actions Non Conformance Reports.
- Identifies and raises Technical Queries with possible solutions.
- Produces Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
- Prepares and raises Temporary Works Briefs.
- Carries out ‘short term’, Visitors Induction.
- Completes Accident Book and associated reports as required.
- Produces a weekly programme and measures progress against KPI’s.
Who we are looking for:
- Able to carry out complex setting out and can use the information provided in the 13 week Stage Programme.
- Understands and has experience of producing ACP.
- Understanding of construction tolerances.
- Awareness of Specification and other Contract documents.
- Understands specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers.
