Job Description
About the role
As a Section Engineer on the A66 project, you will lead key technical elements across your section of works, delivering accurate setting out, engineering control, and quality assurance. You’ll support construction teams with method statements, risk assessments, and progress tracking, while ensuring safety standards and commercial objectives are met throughout this major highway infrastructure scheme.
What you'll be doing
Engineering Control
• Carry out complex setting out
• Provision of ‘primary’ setting out control and recognizes the optimum location for installation
• Coaches subordinates in the use of setting out techniques
Quality
• Produces Activity Control Plans
• Actively uses the Specification as a reference document
• Maintains a comprehensive filing system of quality records
• Identifies, raises and actions Non Conformance Reports
• Identifies and raises Technical Queries with possible solutions
Health Safety & Environmental
• Produces Method Statements and Risk Assessments
• Prepares and raises Temporary Works Briefs
• Carries out ‘short term’, Visitors Induction
• Completes Accident Book and associated reports as required
Productivity
• Produces a weekly programme and measures progress against KPI’s
• Communicates weekly programme and targets to the workforce
Commercial
• Collates Weekly Measure information and monitors wastage against budget allowances / KPI’s
• Carries out a labour and plant reconciliation
• Identifies items of additional work and raises the necessary notifications
• Works to specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and suppliers

• Awareness of Specification and other Contract documents

• Understands Permit System and actively raises permits to Work
• Is able to identify potential hazards and is proactive in implementing actions and controls
Productivity
• Understands and can use the information provided in the 13 week Stage Programme
Commercial
• Good understanding of key contract documentation
• Understands specific terms, conditions and outputs of relevant subcontractors and supplier
