An outstanding special needs school in Birmingham is currently seeking a full-time 1:1 teaching assistant. This community special school serves students with cognition and learning difficulties, as well as physical disabilities and complex health needs.

This role will include supporting teachers with material preparation for lessons, assisting with displays and providing direct 1 on 1 or small group student support.

The ideal candidate for a SEN TA role should:

  • Demonstrate experience or a strong interest in supporting children with SEN
  • Possess prior experience collaborating within the SEN Department
  • Exhibit flexibility, proactivity, and patience
  • Show nurturing and compassionate qualities in their approaches
  • Communicate effectively within a team

A new enhanced DBS will be needed for this role or a subscription to the DBS update service.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification
  • PECS and Makaton training/experience
  • ASD, SLD, Complex needs – Non verbal needs experience
  • Level 1 safeguarding certificate
  • Recent school based references
  • Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
  • Full DBS – on the update service
