Balfor is seeking a qualified and experienced SEND teacher to join our team on a temporary basis in Manchester. This role involves supporting secondary students in SEN schools and alternative provisions, delivering developmentally appropriate lessons tailored to each student’s needs. As a SEND teacher, you will teach across multiple classes, working with students at different developmental stages and supporting those with behavioural or learning challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for SEND teachers with experience in secondary SEND settings and familiarity with early years or primary-level learning approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lessons as a SEND teacher for secondary students working below age-related expectations
- Adapt teaching strategies for students with ASD, MLD, SEMH, or other SEND needs
- Support students’ learning, engagement, and progress across multiple classes
- Collaborate with the SEND team to implement individualised education plans (IEPs)
Person Specification
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven experience teaching secondary SEND students in UK schools
- Experience supporting students with ASD, MLD, SEMH
- DBS on the update service or willing to undergo a new enhanced DBS check
- Ability to adapt teaching methods for students working significantly below their chronological age
- Strong communication, teamwork, and classroom management skills
