About the Role
Balfor Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN English Teacher to work within a specialist education setting in Langport, Somerset.
The successful teacher will be responsible for delivering English to pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, adapting lessons and teaching approaches to meet the individual learning needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
We are looking for a confident and compassionate teacher who can create an engaging, structured and inclusive learning environment while supporting pupils to make progress academically, socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils within an SEN setting.
- Adapt teaching strategies and learning materials to meet individual SEN and learning needs.
- Assess pupil progress and provide appropriate feedback and support.
- Maintain positive classroom management and promote positive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SEN staff and other education professionals.
- Support the safeguarding, wellbeing and academic development of all pupils.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Minimum 6 months UK teaching experience.
- Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 level.
- Previous experience working with pupils with SEN/SEND is highly desirable.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to adapt lessons to meet a range of learning needs and abilities.
- A patient, resilient and supportive approach to teaching.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
