About Balderton

Balderton is one of Europe’s leading venture capital firms, partnering with founders from Seed to IPO. Beyond capital, we provide hands-on support across Talent, Go-To-Market, Finance, and Founder Performance to help build enduring category-defining companies. The Portfolio Talent team plays a central role in this mission — supporting founders and leadership teams on executive hiring, compensation strategy, organizational design, succession planning, board effectiveness, and leadership development.

The Role

We are hiring a Network & Talent Associate to strengthen the infrastructure, intelligence, and community that powers our Talent function. In this role, you will increase the team’s capacity to focus on senior advisory work and long-term strategic initiatives (e.g. Balderton Bench, Wellbeing & Performance programs) by building systems, improving data integrity, enhancing network visibility, and supporting executive search activity across the portfolio. The role sits at the intersection of venture, executive talent, data, and AI-enabled workflows. It is ideal for someone who combines analytical rigor with strong relationship instincts and is excited by the mechanics of how high-growth companies scale their leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Talent Intelligence & Data Infrastructure
    • Ensure high-quality capture, cleaning, and integration of talent data across multiple sources into our internal tools and databases.
    • Maintain executive search rosters, track placements, and manage post-search NPS surveys.
    • Track portfolio company compensation data and maintain structured datasets to support advisory work.
    • Maintain hiring priority lists across portfolio companies to accelerate high-value introductions.
    • Improve visibility and “dot-connecting” across the network (e.g., surfacing high-rated candidates, identifying repeat executive profiles).
    • Support reporting and analytics for internal stakeholders.
  • Executive Search & Sourcing Support
    • Provide lightweight, high-impact sourcing support for priority searches (particularly pre-deal and early-stage opportunities) using tools such as The Swarm, Juicebox, Metaview, and Balderton Bench.
    • Conduct referencing on executives who frequently appear in searches to build institutional knowledge about high-potential leaders.
    • Help calibrate talent markets to support founder decision-making and “selling” of opportunities.
  • Automation, Tools & AI
    • Partner closely with our internal product and operations teams to improve automation and workflow efficiency.
    • Experiment with and implement AI-enabled solutions to streamline research, sourcing, data capture, and reporting.
    • Continuously evaluate how our internal tools can better serve founders and the Talent team.
  • Community & Network Engagement
    • Support engagement across our Talent and People communities (e.g., MC Talent and peer networks).
    • Curate relevant content, tools, and insights to increase ongoing engagement and value creation.
    • Support project management and coordination for key events, including our Chief People Officer Summit and related programming.

What Success Looks Like

  • The Talent team operates with greater leverage and focus on strategic advisory work.
  • Our talent data is accurate, structured, and actively used to drive faster, higher-quality connections.
  • Portfolio companies experience improved speed and quality in executive introductions.
  • Internal tools and AI workflows meaningfully reduce manual effort and improve insight generation.
  • Our Talent and People communities remain engaged, connected, and valuable.

About you:

Experience

  • 3–5 years of professional experience.
  • Background in executive search and/or consulting strongly preferred.
  • In-house talent acquisition, management consulting, or a similarly research-intensive, client-facing environment.
  • Experience with full lifecycle recruiting strongly preferred.

Capabilities

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large volumes of information into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated research capability across multiple channels.
  • High data discipline — you care about accuracy, structure, and system integrity.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building processes where none exist.
  • Strong collaborator with the ability to build trust across internal teams and portfolio companies.

Mindset

  • Deep interest in the intersection of scaling businesses and people.
  • Naturally curious about AI and eager to experiment with new tools.
  • Entrepreneurial and proactive — you see gaps and move to close them.
  • Passionate about supporting founders and leadership teams on strategic people topics including leadership development, succession planning, compensation, and culture.
  • Self-driven learner who continuously explores new trends in talent and organizational effectiveness.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to:

  • Gain exposure to leadership teams across Europe’s most ambitious growth companies.
  • Build a unique vantage point across executive talent markets.
  • Shape how a leading venture firm leverages data, AI, and network intelligence in service of founders.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the evolution of a high-impact Portfolio Talent function.
