Balance Hiring is partnering with a high-growth SME accountancy and advisory practice known for the commercial impact of its work. This firm acts as a preferred advisor to a listed PLC-backed financial advisory group and supports some of the largest and most complex clients in the market. Despite being a smaller practice, the quality of clients, exposure to transactions, and advisory depth rival much larger firms. This is an opportunity to join a business where judgement, insight, and commercial thinking are genuinely valued.
This role is ideal for a strong Senior Accountant who has:
- Experience owning complex client relationships, and
- Either led merger accounts or is ready to step up into that responsibility.
The position is progressive by design, the firm is open to shaping the role around the right person, encouraging you to bring your expertise to the table and play a key role in decision-making, advisory work, and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as lead point of contact for a portfolio of high-quality clients
- Preparing monthly merger accounts and supporting merger accounting activity
- Producing statutory accounts for SMEs and complex entities
- Delivering tax compliance and advisory work, including oversight of ~200 tax returns
- Preparing and reviewing cashflow forecasts, P&L analysis, and financial models
- Supporting clients with funding applications and finance readiness
- Providing commercial insight and advisory support to business owners and senior stakeholders
- Contributing to decision-making, process improvement, and best practice within the firm
What We're Looking For
- Strong background in practice accounting
- Experience managing complex accounts (mergers highly desirable, but not essential if ready to step up)
- Confident advising clients and acting as a trusted commercial partner
- Comfortable balancing hands-on delivery with strategic thinking
- Naturally collaborative, proactive, and commercially minded
