A senior payroll role in a high standards, fast paced professional services environment. A leading international law firm is looking to hire a Senior Payroll Coordinator to join its London payroll team. This is a hands on role supporting the end to end monthly payroll for a sizeable employee population, with a strong focus on accuracy, controls, and stakeholder service. You will sit close to both HR and Finance, owning monthly payroll inputs and data uploads, keeping the payroll masterfile clean, and acting as a trusted point of contact for employee queries. However, your position sits firmly in the Finance team.
Just as important, you will bring strong payroll accounting discipline, ensuring payroll journals and control accounts are correct, reconciled, and clearly documented. This role has genuine breadth. Alongside core UK payroll delivery, you will support statutory reporting and returns, auto enrolment activity, benefits and third party reconciliations, and the season ticket loan process. You will also help manage the more complex side of payroll, including inpat, expat and short term business visitor reporting, plus secondment tax and social security coordination with home and host offices. There is an international element too, including overseeing an outsourced payroll process for a European office.
What they’re looking for:
- You will bring at least five years’ payroll and accounts administration experience, ideally from professional services, with strong working knowledge of PAYE, NIC, statutory calculations and payroll accounting.
- You will be comfortable working in a deadline driven environment, confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, and naturally organised when juggling competing priorities.
- ADP experience is helpful, and CIPP Foundation is a plus.
Working pattern:
- London based, reporting to the UK Payroll Manager
- In office Monday to Thursday, remote working Fridays
- Standard hours 09:30 to 18:00
If you enjoy payroll work that combines delivery, controls, and complex compliance, and you like taking ownership of processes rather than just following them, this is a strong opportunity. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, experiences and characteristics. If you require any adjustments or additional support at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know.
