A leading law firm is hiring a Management Accountant on a 12 month fixed term contract, starting in June, with possible extension. This role plays a central part in keeping the firm’s monthly and quarterly reporting running smoothly, with clear ownership of key deliverables across management information, balance sheet controls, and statutory processes.
Working closely with the Financial Controller and alongside an existing Management Accountant, you will deliver month end outputs that stakeholders rely on. You will produce monthly KPI reporting, prepare timely practice area reports showing key financial and operational metrics, and provide clear support notes for business services spend. You will spot trends, highlight issues early, and present information in a structured way that makes it easy to act on. Controls and reconciliations sit at the heart of the role. You will complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and other key control accounts, ensuring figures are robust, well evidenced, and clearly documented. There is a strong compliance element too. You will prepare quarterly VAT returns, ensuring reconciliations back to the general ledger are complete and submissions are delivered accurately. You will also complete mandatory ONS submissions and biannual payment practice disclosures, gathering the right data and ensuring it meets required definitions and standards. You will liaise with the People team on payroll and benefits, ensuring the monthly payroll journal is posted accurately and on time.
Across the year, you will contribute to budgeting and reforecast cycles by gathering inputs and preparing schedules, and you will respond to ad hoc reporting and analysis requests when deeper insight is needed.
What they’re looking for:
- This role suits someone who is qualified or in the final stages of qualification, and who enjoys ownership of repeatable processes and working confidently with data.
- You will be organised, accurate, calm under pressure, and comfortable juggling deadlines in a busy finance environment.
- Strong Excel skills are essential.
- Professional services experience is helpful but not essential, and exposure to a business of approximately 500 staff is highly beneficial.
- A strong awareness of confidentiality, information security and data protection is essential.
Working pattern:
- Full time, Monday to Friday
- Hours 9:30 to 5:30, with flexibility when required, and flexible applications welcome
- City of London
- Fixed term contract for 12 months, with possible extension
- Hybrid working, with at least 2 days in the office per week required
If you like roles that combine structured monthly delivery with useful analysis and clear ownership, this is a strong opportunity. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, experiences and characteristics.
