We serve an ever-expanding customer base within the food industry which ranges from traditional organisations through to new companies catering for the latest convenience markets.

Purpose of Job

To deliver goods to customers premises as per the pre-set schedule, to pick and check all goods from the freezer, chiller, or ambient compartments of the vehicle, together with any other additional duties, which may be required to ensure the efficiency of the business.

Main Duties

  • Carry out a vehicle walkaround check before using any company vehicle.
  • Carry out deliveries as planned by the /Route Planner transport Supervisory Team.
  • Check and agree the correct quantities are delivered for each order with the customer, any discrepancies to be amended on the POD FATHER system at the point of delivery, record any pallets swaps, collections and take a photo if required.
  • Responsible for collecting payments via the chip and pin machine from customers where applicable and collecting cheques.
  • All daily returns must be recorded and checked by the driver and placed in the designated area within the warehouse, overloads /pallets etc need recording on the POD FATHER end of day report, phones, chip, and pin customer keys etc need returning to the supervisors/warehouse office.
  • All empty pallets are to be taken off the vehicle and placed in designated area within the warehouse, all plastic and cardboard is to be recycled using the bailer within the warehouse.
  • The driver must clean, re-fuel all fuel tanks and check the vehicle daily before parking and locking the vehicle within the designated area in the yard, the keys need returning to the supervisors/ warehouse office.
  • Digital driver’s cards must be downloaded at the end of each week.
  • All time spent on duty must be recorded on the tacho card or a manual record completed.
  • All time spent on daily or weekly rest, holiday, sick or other work must be recorded on the drivers Digi card as a manual entry.
  • Vehicle temperature printouts must be handed into the supervisors/warehouse office daily.
  • Vehicle temperatures must be monitored throughout the day.
  • Ensure all defects are recorded promptly.
  • Ensure all maximum axle weights are adhered to and loads are evenly distributed.
  • Health & Safety
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, as well as that of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions.
  • Promptly report any hazards, unsafe practices, incidents, or near misses to your line manager or the Health & Safety team.
  • Cooperate with management on all matters relating to health and safety, including attending mandatory training and following issued guidance or instructions.
  • Use equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and as instructed to minimise risk.
  • Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the identification and control of workplace hazards.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety by actively engaging in health and safety initiatives and suggestions.
