The Lead Engineer, Customer Order Engineering – Mechanical, will provide technical leadership and engineering expertise across customer projects within the Subsea Wellhead & Casing Solutions portfolio.

You will be responsible for leading engineering design activities, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards, and supported projects from concept through manufacturing and delivery.

The role combines engineering leadership, technical problem solving, project execution, design verification, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Working closely with customers, , manufacturing teams, project managers, and engineering specialists, you will ensure high-quality engineering solutions that meet safety, reliability, performance, and commercial requirements.

As a Lead Engineer – Customer Order Engineering – Mechanical , you will be responsible for:

  • Interpret requirements and specifications for the purposes of engineering design.
  • Interpret customer engineering specifications to develop layout, detail, and assembly designs while defining engineering work scopes and execution plans for effective resource allocation across parts, drawings, reports, specifications, and procedures.
  • Develop conceptual design requirements and layouts for review following company design process management (DPP) protocols.
  • Approve Bill of Materials (BOM), drawings, selection of components, stack-ups, assembly procedures, and support manufacturing.
  • Approve detail designs for manufacture and participate and create material for design reviews including materials and environmental reviews using relevant software to prepare general drawings.
  • Undertake design verification, which may include but not limited to: Tolerance studies, design reliability, design for manufacture, simple failure analysis, design reviews, calculations for basic design Verification purposes.
  • Identify improvements in existing products, procedures and processes and develop cost effective solutions to satisfy specifications.

To be successful in this role you will

  • Have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Have significant engineering design experience within Subsea Wellhead Systems, Subsea Production Systems, or related oil and gas equipment.
  • Demonstrate substantial post‑graduate industrial experience, including experience within relevant engineering and technical leadership roles.
  • Possess strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering calculations, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Have experience interpreting customer specifications and converting technical requirements into practical engineering solutions.
  • Demonstrate expertise in engineering design verification, reliability assessment, risk evaluation, and design review processes.
  • Be fully familiar with Risk Assessment and Reliability Verification methodologies and procedures.
  • Have strong knowledge of industry standards and codes applicable to subsea and oilfield equipment, including API 5L, API 5CT, API 6A, API 17D, and NACE MR0175.
  • Have experience working with 2D and 3D CAD modelling systems and engineering analysis software.
  • Be fluent in English, with additional language capabilities considered beneficial.
