We’re looking for a motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join our team and play a key role in delivering high‑quality geotechnical design solutions across major infrastructure and building projects.
The Role
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll be involved in the full lifecycle of projects, from early concept design through to construction support. You’ll produce robust geotechnical designs and specifications, contribute to ground models, and work closely with colleagues across multiple disciplines. Projects span a diverse portfolio including rail, highways, power, aviation, defence, public sector and life sciences, offering genuine variety and technical challenge. You’ll also gain hands‑on experience supervising ground investigations and supporting construction activities, giving you valuable site exposure alongside your design work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering geotechnical design and specification packages for a wide range of projects
- Working on foundations, retaining structures, earthworks and ground improvement solutions
- Developing ground models and deriving characteristic parameters
- Preparing desk studies, ground investigation specifications and technical reports
- Supervising site investigations and supporting construction works
- Working to current Eurocodes, British Standards and CDM regulations
- Collaborating within a fully integrated, multi‑disciplinary design team
- Keeping up to date with industry trends, design techniques and best practice
What We’re Looking For
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology (or equivalent)
- Experience gained in an engineering consultancy environment at graduate or engineer level a must, this is not a graduate role, experience is required
- A strong understanding of soil mechanics and ground engineering principles
- Exposure to geotechnical design including shallow and piled foundations, retaining walls and earthworks
- Working knowledge of Eurocode 7, relevant British Standards and CDM requirements
- Site experience supervising ground investigations or construction activities
- Actively working towards chartered status with ICE, the Geological Society or similar
- Drivers licence and ability to travel to sites
- Willing and able to obtain Security Clearance
Desirable
- Experience using geotechnical design software, ideally GEO5
- Project experience within sectors such as rail, highways, power, aviation or public sector
