As demand for high‑quality engineering design continues to rise, we’re looking for a Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer – HV Distribution to join our team. In this role, you’ll lead the design and delivery of high‑voltage distribution projects (up to 33 kV), ensuring technical excellence and consistency across all outputs. You’ll also support bids and proposals, mentor junior engineers and CAD technicians, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the production of designs, calculations, reports, and drawings for HV projects.
- Develop single line diagrams, layout drawings, and technical specifications.
- Conduct electrical network studies including load flow, fault level, and protection analysis.
- Use software tools such as ETAP, DigSilent, MathCAD, ProDesign, PSS/E, ERACS.
- Guide CAD technicians and ensure quality control of drawings and documentation.
- Participate in risk reviews, HAZID sessions, and design reviews.
- Provide technical interface with third parties and suppliers.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and resource planning management of junior staff in the HV team.
- Ensure compliance with IEC and BS EN standards and client specifications.
About You
- Holds a minimum of an HNC in Electrical Engineering with an HV/Power background (MEng/MSc preferred).
- Working toward Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is beneficial but not essential.
- Strong experience in HV distribution design (up to 33 kV).
- Proficient in technical report writing, specification and drawing production.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and other CAD tools.
- Familiarity with client specifications (e.g. MOD, SSEN, UKPN).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills.
