About the role
As a Principal Geospatial Analyst, you’ll play a key leadership role in developing advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) across a range of complex and high-profile projects. You’ll bring strong technical grounding in GIS technology, software development and data management alongside a collaborative leadership style that empowers others. Working closely with colleagues from across the business, you’ll design, develop and implement GIS applications that meet diverse client needs while contributing to innovation and best practice across the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate GIS deliverables across multiple projects, ensuring they align with organisational and client goals
- Provide supportive leadership, mentoring and guidance to the GIS team as they continue to develop and grow
- Oversee the design and implementation of advanced GIS software solutions and enterprise-scale integrations
- Work collaboratively with senior stakeholders, project directors and multidisciplinary teams to shape project requirements and deliverables
- Design and review scalable, reliable and user‑centred GIS applications
- Support the integration of GIS with other enterprise technologies to improve user experience and business performance
- Ensure GIS data quality, integrity and compliance across all projects
- Lead on bids, fee proposals and commercial submissions, contributing to positive long‑term client relationships
- Share GIS best practice, emerging technologies and new ideas across the business
- Stay informed of new developments in the GIS field and help identify opportunities for continuous improvement
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Geology or a related field
- Strong experience with GIS technologies, including QGIS, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcEnterprise and ArcGIS Online
- Advanced experience using ETL tools, especially FME, to design and automate workflows
- Excellent GIS data management capability, including schema design, assurance and advanced analysis
- Confident communicator with experience building trusted relationships with stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead, support and inspire others within a technical environment
- Experience contributing to and securing commercial opportunities
- Creative and solutions‑driven, with a long‑term vision for how GIS can support sustainable business growth
- Experience with remote sensing and developing 3D models from drone and LiDAR data
- Comfortable architecting and guiding large‑scale GIS solutions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance or assurance level for this role, in line with client and sector requirements. In some cases, additional nationality or residency criteria may also apply due to specific client or national security obligations.
