Overview
Be part of building the infrastructure that powers the future. We’re looking for a Civil Engineer to join our growing team at BakerHicks, delivering high-quality designs for power and energy infrastructure projects – including substations, grid connections, and renewable energy facilities – alongside exciting work in other sectors such as industrial, defence, and transportation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and specifying civil works for large-scale projects, including drainage, external works, earthworks, and utilities.
- Producing detailed drawings, specifications, and reports that meet the highest technical standards.
- Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable solutions.
- Reviewing calculations and subcontractor designs for compliance and quality.
- Supporting and mentoring early-career engineers, while contributing to technical excellence and best practice.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience delivering projects in one or more sectors – power sector experience desirable.
- Working towards Chartered or Incorporated status (ICE or IStructE).
- Strong understanding of drainage design, earthworks, and external works.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD (or similar) for modelling, layouts, and draughting designs.
- Good knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards, CDM regulations, and BIM processes.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with clients and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Eligibility for security clearance (essential for certain projects).
- Work on major energy and infrastructure projects, helping to shape the UK’s power network.
