Description
BakerHicks has grown rapidly in the Transmission & Distribution sector over the last decade, delivering exceptional engineering design to major UK projects. We are now looking for a CAD Technician to join our Power team.
Reporting to the Office Lead – Power, you will be responsible for producing high-quality drawings and models using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design tools. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects in the electrical Transmission & Distribution sector, including HV underground cables, overhead lines (OHL), and substations.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce schematics, models, and detailed drawings for HV projects.
- Update and modify drawings in line with client standards and procedures.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver holistic design solutions.
- Ensure accuracy, compliance with CAD standards, and timely delivery.
- Support junior technicians and promote “Right First Time” and “Zero Defects” principles.
About You
- Proven experience in HV transmission and distribution, underground cables, substations, or OHL draughting.
- Proficient in AutoCAD (2D & 3D); knowledge of Revit, Civils 3D, or Bentley Microstation is an advantage.
- Minimum HNC/D qualification; EngTech MIET or MICE status desirable.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
