We are supporting a long-established, London-based professional services firm with a strong reputation in audit, tax and advisory for international clients. As part of their growing China & East Asia Business Desk, they are seeking a Japanese-speaking Audit Assistant Manager with solid UK audit experience.
The Role
- Lead and manage audit engagements for a portfolio of Japan and wider East Asia linked clients (including UK subsidiaries of international groups and fast-growing businesses).
- Plan and deliver audits under UK auditing standards, overseeing on-site/remote fieldwork and reviewing work prepared by Seniors and juniors.
- Review financial statements under UK GAAP (and IFRS where applicable) and address complex areas such as revenue, group reporting, going concern and estimates.
- Act as day-to-day contact for Japanese and UK stakeholders, using your Japanese language skills to liaise with overseas parent companies and finance teams.
- Work closely with tax and advisory teams and contribute to refining audit processes within the international/East Asia desk.
Candidate Profile
- Strong external audit background in an accountancy practice or professional services firm.
- Experience with SMEs, owner-managed businesses and/or international groups.
- Solid knowledge of UK GAAP and UK auditing standards (IFRS exposure beneficial).
- Fluent or highly proficient in Japanese (spoken and written); able to explain complex issues clearly to non-UK stakeholders.
- ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
- Organised, detail-focused and comfortable managing multiple engagements in a fast-paced, international environment.
