Our client is a global professional services consultancy delivering engineering and environmental solutions for major infrastructure projects worldwide. Working across both public and private sectors, they support the delivery of sustainable, community‑focused developments across the energy and infrastructure landscape. They are currently supporting the delivery of a utility‑scale Solar and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) project in the UK which is now well progressed through construction. Due to the complexity of the final delivery stages and the need to satisfy ongoing National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) requirements, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to provide additional specialist support.
This is a high‑impact opportunity for an individual with demonstrable experience delivering utility‑scale energy infrastructure projects through construction, energisation and grid compliance phases.
The Role
You will guide the project in navigating the final stages of delivery, with a particular focus on coordination, stakeholder management and ensuring compliance with NGET processes and requirements. The role is expected to begin as soon as possible. Whilst there is a preference for an experienced contractor seeking a part‑time assignment initially (approximately 2-3 days per week, with potential to increase as the project progresses), our client is also open to considering a permanent full‑time appointment for the right individual.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the successful delivery of a utility‑scale Solar and BESS project through late‑stage construction and grid connection activities
- Managing interfaces between project stakeholders, contractors, consultants and National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET)
- Coordinating technical, programme and compliance activities associated with energisation and grid readiness
- Identifying and mitigating delivery risks, constraints and programme impacts
- Ensuring project documentation, governance and reporting requirements are maintained
- Providing pragmatic project leadership during a critical phase of delivery
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering utility‑scale Solar, BESS or wider grid‑connected energy infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of NGET processes, requirements and stakeholder engagement
- Experience supporting projects through construction, commissioning, energisation and handover phases
- Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively within complex multi‑disciplinary project environments
- Consultancy or owner’s engineer experience would be advantageous
This is an opportunity to join a globally recognised consultancy on a strategically important renewable energy project at a critical delivery stage. The role offers flexibility around contract structure, base location, and working pattern, making it well suited to experienced project professionals seeking either a part‑time consultancy assignment or a longer‑term permanent opportunity.
