The Warehouse Shift Leader (Nights) is responsible for overseeing the entire night shift operation, ensuring productivity, safety, and operational targets are consistently met. This role provides leadership to Team Leaders and warehouse colleagues, driving performance, accountability, and continuous improvement across all areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all warehouse activities during the night shift, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Supervise and support Team Leaders, providing direction, coaching, and performance management.
- Monitor KPIs (e.g. pick rates, dispatch accuracy, turnaround times) and take corrective action where required.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies.
- Manage staffing levels, shift planning, and resource allocation to meet operational demands.
- Conduct shift briefings and debriefings, communicating priorities and performance expectations.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues, incidents/accidents & staff conduct issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with other departments (transport, goods in, management) to ensure alignment.
- Produce reports on shift performance and escalate issues to senior management where necessary.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a warehouse leadership role (preferably in a supervisory/shift leader capacity).
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Good understanding of warehouse systems and processes.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations.
- MHE Trained (counterbalance/Bendy preferred).
- First Aid trained (preferred).
Shifts/Working Hours: work 4 over 7 Days, 12-hour Shifts, weeks run from Sunday-Saturday for operational purposes, Shift pattern Week 1 Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday Week 2 Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Salary: Β£34,000 - Β£35,000 per annum.
