The Role
The purpose of this role is to provide Electrical Design and technical expertise in supporting project delivery. Working closely with Project Leaders and the wider multidisciplinary design team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects while maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence, professionalism and client service. You will represent the company both internally and externally, ensuring engineering solutions are practical, innovative and delivered to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality, well-considered electrical design solutions.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Contribute to and follow established Quality Assurance (QA) procedures to maintain the technical accuracy and presentation of all project deliverables.
- Work alongside Project Leaders and Senior Engineers to establish project programmes, resource requirements and delivery milestones.
- Support projects through all RIBA stages from concept to completion.
Project Leadership
- Lead by example through professionalism, commitment and technical excellence.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to Graduate, Junior and Trainee Engineers.
- Take ownership of design elements under your control to ensure efficient and successful project outcomes.
- Continuously develop your technical knowledge and apply industry best practice throughout project delivery.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
Technical Standards
- Carry out electrical building services design calculations and provide technical input throughout project delivery.
- Produce detailed drawings, specifications and technical reports.
- Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations, British Standards, CIBSE guidance and client requirements.
- Work closely with BIM and digital delivery teams to produce coordinated design information.
- Share technical knowledge and lessons learned with colleagues.
- Apply innovative engineering solutions and the latest industry developments.
- Ensure Quality Assurance procedures are followed throughout every stage of project delivery.
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within a UK Building Services (MEP) Design Consultancy.
- Strong technical knowledge of Electrical Building Services Design.
- Experience producing electrical design calculations, specifications and technical reports.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational and project delivery skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartership.
- Membership of CIBSE, IET or another relevant professional institution.
- Experience working within BIM environments.
- Experience delivering sustainable and low-carbon building services solutions.
