Job Purpose

To prepare and finish manufactured parts by polishing and applying industrial coatings to metal and fabricated components, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet both aesthetic and functional requirements. This role is ideal for an individual with significant hands-on experience in industrial polishing and painting, contributing to our reputation for excellence in the food industry.

Main Duties

  • Polish parts to required standards by sanding out welds, rounding corners, and using tools such as sanders, belt sanders, die grinders, and orbital sanders.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, masking, sanding, or shot-blasting as required.
  • Apply primers, topcoats, and other industrial finishes using spray guns or other application methods.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for coverage, thickness, and consistency according to specifications and drawings.
  • Perform touch-ups and rework as needed prior to contract despatch.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with health and safety policies and 5S methodologies.
  • Track usage and report low stock of paints, solvents, and consumables to the Section Leader.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure timely completion of production targets.
  • Offer improvement ideas and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Flexibility to undertake other tasks in different areas as needed.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in industrial or commercial polishing or painting applications.
  • Familiarity with spray-painting and polishing equipment and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings or work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Basic understanding of Health & Safety and PPE requirements in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and proactively suggest improvements.
