The EMEA Pitch-Pro – Employment and Tax Practice Groups will lead the management of pitch creation and relevant materials related to proposals for the Employment and Tax Practice Groups. The role-holder will be part of a wider pitch-pro community in EMEA and will report to the Regional Practice Group (PG) lead for either the Employment or Tax PG. The individual will work closely with select key stakeholders across the business, including Partners, Associates, the Global Client Pursuits team, and both Practice Group and Central Business Development teams.
Main responsibilities
- Support and challenge the legal team in determining whether to respond to pitch opportunities
- Lead pitches following the Firm’s best‑practice pitch process
- Develop value propositions and relevant Practice Group messaging to present a compelling offering to the target
- Organize presentation rehearsals and provide advice and coaching on style, approach, and messaging
- Conduct client debriefs to capture feedback
- Coach, mentor, and support other members of the Marketing & Business Development team on best‑practice pitch techniques
- Provide suggestions and recommendations to improve the pitch process, delivery, and execution
Skills and experience
- A bachelor’s degree, ideally with additional business-focused qualifications or experience in Business Development, Marketing, Communications, Sales, or related commercial subjects
- Experience in business development within an international law firm or other professional or financial services environment
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, with strong writing ability and the capability to identify strong proposal messages
- Able to interact and influence effectively across various levels of the Firm
- Experience in matrix management across multiple offices and countries
- A collegiate approach and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, management, and leadership across EMEA and the wider Firm
- Able to remain confident, calm, and credible under pressure while managing multiple concurrent projects and meeting strict deadlines
- Respects and values the diversity of cultural, social, and academic backgrounds found in the Firm
Location Belfast Center or any Baker McKenzie Office in any EMEA
Reports to EMEA Business Development Lead for the Employment or Tax PG
