Gaffney Cline energy advisory (GCea) is a global petroleum consultancy with over 60 years of experience, specializing exclusively in the energy industry. It provides policy, strategy, technical, and commercial support to governments, financial institutions, and oil, gas, and energy companies worldwide.

GCea combines commercial and technical expertise across upstream disciplines (geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, drilling, facilities engineering), as well as midstream and downstream engineering, economics, legal, and business strategy. GCea operates as a subsidiary of Baker Hughes, leveraging integrated oilfield products, services, and digital solutions to enhance productivity across the energy value chain.

As a Senior Petroleum Economist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing necessary economic input and analysis to multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Conducting evaluations of petroleum and other energy assets for a variety of project types including commercial assessments, reserves and resources evaluations, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and feasibility studies.
  • Developing cash flow models and creating economic models to reflect appropriate fiscal and tax regimes, along with commercial scenarios and sensitivity analysis.
  • Performing economic and financial analysis, including valuation of clients' oil and gas interests worldwide, and identifying investment/divestment opportunities that add value to clients' asset portfolios.
  • Designing analytical tools and methodologies to perform exploration portfolio evaluations.
  • Auditing the economic and commercial elements of oil projects.
  • Contributing to the analysis and design of petroleum fiscal systems and providing advice to host governments.
  • Researching oil and gas industry information and developing insights on market trends and implications for business strategy.
  • Delivering assessments under tight deadlines.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Economics or equivalent. Candidates with an Associate degree in Economics or related fields may be considered based on relevant experience.
  • Have the ability to provide economic strategic input to multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Have expertise in developing cash flow models and creating economic models reflecting the commercial elements of upstream petroleum contracts.
  • Have experience conducting evaluations of petroleum assets for reserves/resources assessments, due diligence and feasibility studies.
  • Have capability in designing analytical tools and methodologies for exploration portfolio evaluations.
  • Have experience in auditing, reviewing and providing commentary on third party economic models and the commercial and economic indicators of upstream oil and gas projects.
  • Have familiarity with global petroleum fiscal systems and the ability to lead the comparison and design of petroleum fiscal options or contracts.
  • Have proficiency in researching oil and gas industry information and developing insights on market trends and business strategy implications.
  • Have the capacity to deliver assessments under tight deadlines.
