Would you enjoy building production‑grade AI solutions that create measurable business impact? Do you enjoy working with Generative AI and Large Language Models to solve complex, real‑world problems?
Baker Hughes is a global energy‑technology company operating in more than 120 countries. By bringing together advanced physical and digital technologies, we design and deliver solutions that make energy safer, cleaner, and more efficient across the value chain. With over a century of heritage, Baker Hughes partners with customers across oil and gas, industrial sectors, and emerging energy markets to accelerate progress toward a more sustainable energy future.
As an AI Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and deployment of production‑grade AI applications, with a strong focus on Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). You will work closely with experienced AI engineers, data engineers, and product teams to prototype, test, and scale AI‑driven capabilities that deliver measurable business value. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning, and applied AI, and is ideal for an engineer who is excited about building reliable, responsible, and high‑quality AI systems rather than standalone models.
As an AI Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting in the development of applications using LLMs and Generative AI tools.
- Collaborating with API and platform teams to ensure high‑quality, secure, and scalable integrations.
- Creating, fine‑tuning, and adapting pre‑trained models to meet business and technical requirements.
- Monitoring model outputs for quality, bias, security, and continued relevance.
- Proposing, experimenting with, and documenting prompts, system designs, and AI workflows.
- Supporting best practices across responsible AI, model evaluation, and operational deployment.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience, preferably with a focus on data and AI.
- Be proficient in Python and SQL, with experience working in modern data and analytics environments.
- Have a solid understanding of machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) concepts.
- Demonstrate hands‑on interest or experience with Generative AI and LLM‑based techniques such as prompt engineering and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG).
- Bring working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Be comfortable collaborating across engineering, product, and architecture teams in a matrixed environment.
- Show curiosity, structured problem‑solving skills, and a willingness to continuously learn in a fast‑moving field.
We recognize that everyone works best in different ways. In this role, we offer flexible working patterns, including hybrid or onsite working depending on location, and flexible working hours to support productivity and work‑life balance.
