The Baker Hughes 12 months Internship is designed to enable students either pursuing a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree or recently graduated to gain hands-on work experience as the foundation of their professional lives. Our internships will give you first-hand insights into the processes, systems, and practices that are aligned to ensure customer needs are met through flawless execution and the application of leading-edge technology.
Partner with the best. The PPS business delivers pipeline and process services to the oil and gas market globally. The Digitisation Intern will support the Data Analysis function by preparing, maintaining, and refreshing source data used in Power BI reports and dashboards. The role will support stakeholder requirements gathering, testing feedback, improvements to existing Power Apps solutions, and small software enhancement activities. The intern will also help maintain clear documentation for data sources, refresh steps, requirements, testing results, and process changes, while developing practical knowledge of data preparation, processing, reporting tools, and quality-focused ways of working.
You’ll participate in focused training, and team meetings, work on projects, and present your results. During your internship, you will be supported by a buddy and your manager who will ensure you have a valuable learning experience. You can expect to receive coaching and mentoring to enable you to complete assignments and projects to develop your learning and skillset. You will also have the opportunity to become familiar with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) and culture of Baker Hughes, as well as our strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
As an Intern, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing, maintaining, and refreshing source data used in Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Performing basic validation checks and highlighting missing, inconsistent, or unusual data for review.
- Attending meetings with report stakeholders to understand reporting needs, document requirements, and gathering feedback during testing and user validation.
- Supporting improvements to existing Data Analysis Power Apps solutions, including learning relevant Power Apps features, processes, and development practices.
- Tracking Power Apps enhancement requests raised by the Data Analysis team, support testing and feedback capture, and follow up with DT IM on progress and actions.
- Participating in small software enhancement activities, including requirement clarification, documentation, testing, issue tracking, and implementation support.
- Providing data control support for non-certified activities and administrative processes.
- Developing knowledge of data preparation, data processing, reporting products, specialist software, and processes linked to Data Analysis and customer feedback.
- Maintaining clear documentation for data sources, refresh steps, requirements, testing results, and system changes.
- Working collaboratively with team members and stakeholders, communicate progress, and raise blockers promptly.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, STEM, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of data preparation, data validation, data processing, and reporting concepts.
- Detailed, analytical, and process-oriented approach with the ability to follow tasks through to closure in a timely manner.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills, with willingness to work with stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback.
- Exposure to Power BI, Power Query, Excel, SharePoint, Power Apps, or other data/reporting tools.
- Interest in process improvement, automation, digital workflows, and reporting solutions.
- GCSEs or equivalent in Science, English, Maths, Engineering, or related subjects.
- Ability to document steps clearly, follow agreed processes, and raise issues or blockers promptly.
- Have maintained a GPA grade greater than or equal to 3.0 out of 4.0 or the equivalent in your country.
- Be fluent in oral and written English and have effective communication skills.
- Be able to legally work in the country that you are applying in, without company sponsorship or time restriction.
