As a Principal / Senior Subsea Systems Engineer, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to lead Front End Engineering and Development studies, partnering with product experts to provide systemsâlevel guidance across projects and technology programs. You will conduct trade studies, support field development, and take ownership of cost, schedule, quality, and HS&E performance. The role also involves contributing to process improvements, ensuring smooth handâoffs to tendering and execution teams, and supporting regional sales and commercial teams through early customer engagement and technical expertise.
As a Principal / Senior Subsea Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Leading frontâend subsea engineering studies, field development activities, and systemsâlevel tradeâoff evaluations.
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and driving processâimprovement and dataâdriven decisionâmaking.
- Developing subsea system concepts and optimizing designs across the full lifecycle, from feasibility through decommissioning.
- Managing interfaces across global product teams, delivery partners, and clients while ensuring quality compliance.
- Liaising with customers to clarify requirements, manage expectations, and support earlyâengagement and commercial activities.
- Supporting tendering, detailed engineering, execution phases, and proposal preparation as a technical contributor or reviewer.
- Representing Baker Hughes at external events, promoting new technologies, and enhancing internal systemsâengineering capability.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a master's or bachelor's degree, ideally with experience in Oil & Gas operations, subsea equipment, SURF, or offshore renewables.
- Have strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Have broad knowledge of project and engineering management processes, systems engineering, and decisionâanalysis frameworks (INCOSE, AACE, APM, PRINCE2 desirable).
- Have proven projectâengineering experience within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Have experience designing and selecting solutions across areas such as field architecture, flow assurance, process engineering, SPS, risers, pipelines, controls, constructability, and installation.
- Be able to travel internationally for customer meetings, project needs, and shortâterm assignments.
