The Baker Hughes Internship is designed to enable students either pursuing a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree or recently graduated to gain hands-on work experience as the foundation of their professional lives. Our internships will give you first-hand insights into the processes, systems, and practices that are aligned to ensure customer needs are met through flawless execution and the application of leading-edge technology.

Our internships give you first-hand insights into the manufacturing processes, systems, and practices that are aligned to ensure customer needs are met through flawless execution and the application of leading-edge technology. During your internship, you will be supported by your manager who will ensure that you have a valuable learning experience.
As a Lean Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting thorough assessments of current processes to identify inefficiencies, waste, and areas for improvement.
- Implementing and promoting lean tools and techniques such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, TPM, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Overseeing and coaching Daily Lean Management routine across different functions.
- Developing and improving tracking tools, dashboards, and templates to support Operational Excellence.
- Educating and training employees on lean principles and practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Working closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, supply chain, and engineering, to drive operational excellence and enhance overall performance.
- Building capability in developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of lean initiatives and ensure sustained improvements.
- Utilizing data analysis and problem-solving techniques to address operational challenges and implement sustainable solutions, and driving functions to adhere to problem-solving techniques through Daily Lean Management.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Have proven experience in a lean engineering or operational excellence role for at least 3 years, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Have a strong understanding of lean principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Have effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with lean software tools e.g., Minitab, Tableau, PowerBI.
- Have strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
