The Lead Sales Specialist - Contracts will be responsible for identifying and providing solutions to minimize and mitigate risk within contractual activities for Baker Hughes with particular focus on the BRUSH Power Generation business. The Contract Manager will primarily drive contractual review, redlining of terms and conditions, and negotiation in the commercial (ITO) phase with the aim to minimize commercial, execution, legal and financial risks embedded in a contract.
Responsibilities
- Commercial risk mitigation, redlining of terms and conditions, coordination input/review with functional experts (legal, compliance, quality, finance, tax and insurance).
- Drafting of specific agreements as needed (e.g. NDAs, MOUs, contract amendments).
- Providing guidance to commercial teams on contract drafting during the negotiation phase with customers, subcontractors and consortium partners to ensure that the GTE risk profile and project objectives are respected.
- Fully conversant in all aspects of terms and conditions from key terms (such as indemnities, limitations of liability, consequential losses and warranties) through to boiler plate clauses.
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating terms and conditions of international and domestic sales agreements with customers for the supply of equipment, services and parts, including all of the appropriate contract documentation.
- Supporting negotiations with customers, both in person and by phone/telepresence.
- Working closely with GTE business subject matter experts across Risk, Finance, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, and Operations.
- Ensuring commercial risks are identified and managed across the project scope of work by providing overall project contract risk analysis and development of risk mitigation plans.
- Collaborating with global Risk Operations and Governance initiatives.
- Conducting analysis of tender processes in coordination with the Commercial Operations and Legal teams, to analyze contract specifications and structure (consortium, prime/subcontractor, etc.).
- Simplification of the ITO process through strong cooperation with Legal and Finance departments and with Commercial Senior Leadership.
- Contribution to process enhancements and commercial training.
- Strict adherence to GTE risk procedures, driving involvement in risk reviews.
- Constant collaboration and partnership with the Risk Management team.
- Cooperation with Execution (OTR) Risk team during the Hand-off and Lessons Learned sessions.
- Leading with integrity and ensuring the GTE compliance policy, Our Way, is at the forefront of your mind in any transaction.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Degree in either Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience in cumulative O&G, energy industry and/or industrial industry work experience.
- Extensive experience and proven ability to draft and negotiate contracts.
- Background in law/risk.
- Experience working in a fast paced and dynamic environment, demonstrated ability to be flexible, self‑motivated and show high levels of initiative.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines whilst multitasking multiple projects.
- Ability to work both independently and on their own initiative.
- Attention to detail.
- Mother tongue or as proficient as mother tongue in written and spoken English.
- Fully competent in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Multiple language capability would be a plus.
- Hold a permanent work permit in UK.
