In this role, as Controls Software Engineer you will design controls software for electrical power system using BH PRISMIC control system. You will also work with cross‑functional engineering team and project managers to execute customer/system requirements.
As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Designing control software in C++ for power system control and its monitoring applications.
- Ensuring high standards of software revision control using GitHub.
- Preparation and review of technical specifications for control system projects.
- Creating I/O lists, functional specifications and logic diagrams based on project requirements.
- Defining network architecture diagrams.
- Setting up hardware including processors, controllers, I/O, ethernet switches, gateways & firewalls.
- Preparation of software test specifications.
- Conducting diligent internal testing before witness testing in front of customers.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have proven experience in designing and configuring software for control systems within power, industrial, or automation sectors.
- Have proven experience in C++ software programming.
- Experience with GitHub or similar software revision control systems.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree, HNC or HND in electronic/electrical/computer science/controls engineering or a similar related subject.
- Have knowledge of software‑based microsystems, control and communication systems including Modbus TCP/IP, OPC UA, IEC61850.
- Have knowledge of operating systems such as QNX and Windows.
- Be able to interpret electrical power system and switchgear components and create technical and functional design specifications.
- Have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
