At BakerHicks, we’re continuing to grow our project delivery capability across complex engineering and construction environments. We’re now looking for an experienced contract Quantity Surveyor to join our on‑site team on a key project in Ayrshire, supporting the commercial delivery of multiple work packages - with a particular focus on electrical installation works. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a central role within a collaborative, site‑based team, contributing directly to successful project outcomes in a highly regulated environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • You’ll be a key member of the project delivery team, supporting and leading commercial activities across the project lifecycle. This will include:
  • Managing subcontractor packages from contract award through to final account
  • Leading on variations and claims, including pricing, negotiation and close‑out
  • Preparing and submitting accurate applications for payment with supporting evidence
  • Overseeing cash flow, forecasting and cost reporting to support project performance
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Supporting operational teams with progress monitoring, cost control and value recovery
  • Ensuring contracts are administered in line with NEC4 (Option E experience advantageous)
  • Guiding stakeholders on contract interpretation and best practice
  • Driving strong commercial governance aligned to company and client requirements
  • Contributing to safety and quality initiatives, working closely with suppliers and contractors
  • Building strong client relationships through professional delivery and high‑quality service

What we’re looking for

  • We’re looking for someone who is commercially astute, proactive and confident working in a fast‑paced project environment.
  • Strong experience as a procurement/contracts manager in the construction or related industries.
  • Good knowledge of all commonly used model Forms of contract for UK services and supplies specifically the IChemE, JCT, NEC 4 suites.
  • Excellent knowledge of current UK procurement/finance legislation requirements (corruption etc).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Good knowledge of the engineering and construction market.
  • High level of proficiency in the use of general Microsoft Office software i.e. Word, Excel, etc.
  • Experience of interacting with client representatives.
  • Experience of working within an EPCM environment preferable.
