This is an exciting opportunity to join a brilliant team to support the continued growth of an established family-owned business in Leeds.
The Role:
- Focussing mainly on new transformer and package substation installation on site including fitting, wiring and testing of both distribution and power transformers.
- Includes some warranty investigation and rectification work on site and more routine equipment maintenance tasks.
- Based on site with some occasional in-house pre-fitting and assembly of various types of distribution and power transformers and associated packages.
- Prepare work by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, pre-assembly images & parts lists.
- Travel to third party sites both in the UK and Europe to build up the equipment and test.
- Read and understand mechanical and schematic drawings.
- Use general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the role.
Experience and Competence:
- Essential experience of working on site fitting distribution and power transformers and associated packages.
- Hands-on experience of working within a mechanical/electrical engineering environment.
- Ability to understand mechanical and schematic drawings.
- Apprentice trained or a Mechanical/Electrical qualification.
- Experience of Health & Safety and conducting risk assessments.
- ECS accreditation.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Transformer full testing experience is desirable.
Skills:
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with customers and resolve issues in a proactive and positive manner.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Flexible and adaptable, prepared to attend site at short notice which may be outside normal working hours.
- Experience of working collaboratively with other operations personnel with the ability to train and enhance your work colleagues' skills.
- Ideally experience of working within a continuous improvement environment.
- Ideally have up-to-date training on Overhead Crane/Slinging Lifting certification.
- Ideally have a FLT licence.
- Ideally IPAF certification.
