We are looking for an experienced Fabricator/Welder to join a great team in an established family-owned business in Leeds. Our client is a leading manufacturer and supplier of electrical power distribution equipment and pioneers of super low loss amorphous transformer technology.
The Role:
- You will operate welding machines to fuse metal segments together using MIG or other processes.
- Measuring, cutting, clamping, grinding, drilling, or tacking metal pieces before welding.
- You will be required to fabricate parts following mechanical drawings.
- You will prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.
- You will be expected to maintain the highest level of workmanship standards and product quality ensuring products are produced and delivered OTIF to the customers' requirements.
- You will check and complete all paperwork associated with the works order.
- Performance of area housekeeping activities, including the prompt reporting of problems, shortages or equipment breakdowns.
- You may be required to visit customer sites throughout the UK.
- Using general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the role.
- Quality inspection of colleagues' output.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Fabrication/welding- MIG, MMA/Stick Welding, Stud Welding and Plasma Cutting - essential.
- Preferable to have experience using the Armarda Press Brake.
- Hands-on experience of working within a mechanical/electrical engineering environment - desirable.
- The ability to understand mechanical drawings - essential.
- Overhead crane/lifting slinging experience - desirable.
- FLT Counterbalance - desirable.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of working collaboratively with other operations personnel.
- Experience of working within a continuous improvement environment - desirable.
- Full driving licence - essential.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
