A large, complex, and international technology business (£bn t/o) is seeking a Head of Financial Reporting to take full ownership of group-level financial reporting during a period of significant transformation under private equity ownership. This is a newly created and highly visible role, acting as the organisation’s dedicated financial reporting specialist. You will have end-to-end accountability for external reporting, technical accounting, and audit, while designing and embedding fit-for-purpose corporate reporting processes for a multi-jurisdictional, multi-currency group with sophisticated accounting requirements. The role partners closely with senior finance and non-finance leadership, external auditors, advisors, and the PE owners, and plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, integrity, and clarity of financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the end-to-end external reporting, review, and audit process for the Group.
  • Design and implement a robust corporate reporting framework, including reporting timetables, ownership, controls, and governance.
  • Lead the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements and disclosures under IFRS.
  • Act as the Group’s technical accounting authority across complex areas including cash flow reporting, pensions, share-based payments, and financial instruments and risk disclosures.
  • Develop, maintain, and embed a Group Accounting Manual, ensuring accounting policies are appropriate, well-documented, and consistently applied globally.
  • Research, interpret, and advise on technical and commercial accounting issues as they arise.
  • Prepare high-quality papers and analysis for senior leadership, the Audit Committee, and external auditors.
  • Support and upskill global finance teams through guidance, challenge, and targeted training.
  • Drive continuous improvement in close efficiency, reporting quality, and overall governance.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent) with strong experience in group reporting within a complex, international environment. You are likely to have worked in or with a listed or large PE-backed business, with Big 4 audit or advisory experience beneficial. You will bring deep technical knowledge of IFRS and UK corporate reporting requirements, alongside a proven track record of owning or significantly leading external reporting and audit processes.

This role requires someone who is comfortable operating in a hands‑on capacity, able to balance technical rigour with pragmatic delivery. You will be a strong communicator, capable of influencing senior stakeholders within a matrix organisation, and recognised for your proactive, detail‑oriented approach and resilience under tight reporting deadlines.

This is a rare opportunity to build and shape a corporate reporting function from the ground up, with significant exposure to senior leadership during a transformational period. The role offers broad technical scope and genuine influence over the future‑state finance design, making it ideal for a technically strong reporting accountant ready to step into a role with greater ownership, visibility, and impact.

If you are interested in discussing this opportunity in confidence, please apply or get in touch for further details.
