A high-growth international fintech payments business is looking to appoint a Director of Finance Operations. The business is internationally established and going through a period of significant change. This is a senior finance operations role reporting to the SVP Finance. The role is based in London, with European travel approximately once a month or every other month.
You will lead a team across billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payments, reconciliations and expenses. The role will own the efficiency, accuracy and scalability of core finance operations and transaction processing. The remit will cover billing, AR, AP, payments, reconciliations, expenses, cash application, finance operations controls, systems and operational KPIs.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the finance operations team across billing, AR, AP, payments, reconciliations and expenses.
- Understanding current operational issues and bringing greater structure, stability and control to the function.
- Improving processes across billing, collections, merchant communications, vendor management, payment execution, expenses, cash application and reconciliations.
- Overseeing the Procure-to-Pay cycle, including supplier onboarding, invoice processing, payment execution, corporate cards and employee expenses.
- Improving cash application and reconciliation processes across bank accounts, payment processors, sub-ledgers and the general ledger.
- Supporting finance transformation, including the implementation and optimisation of finance systems, workflows and reporting.
- Introducing clearer KPIs, reporting, accountability and operational cadence across finance operations.
- Strengthening policies, procedures, documentation and controls.
- Working closely with senior finance stakeholders across London and the wider international business.
The successful candidate will bring stability, structure and operational control to finance operations and will be comfortable operating in a fluid, fast moving and ambiguous scale-up environment. You will be able to understand the issues quickly and then bring order, process, accountability and future-proof ways of working. You will be hands-on, resilient and pragmatic, able to work without perfect structure, assess what matters, make practical improvements and bring people with you.
You will have operated in finance operations, shared services, transactional finance leadership, finance transformation or global process ownership. You will have led operational finance teams and improved processes, ideally within a high-growth, scale-up or technology-led environment. Fintech, payments, gaming, SaaS, marketplace, e-commerce or other high-volume transactional businesses would be particularly relevant, although the broader requirement is experience operating in a fast-moving, imperfect and change-heavy environment.
Experience with NetSuite would be useful, particularly around reporting, optimisation or implementation, but the broader requirement is experience improving finance operations through systems, data, process and controls. Experience with other ERP or finance systems transformation will also be relevant.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a finance operations function during a significant period of change, with scope to improve systems, controls, processes, team structure and the operating model of an international fintech business.
