A fast-growing, private equity–backed consumer business is hiring a Financial Accountant into a technical, high-exposure role with strong prospects for progression. Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, this role is designed for someone who wants to build technical capability while positioning themselves for a future senior role.

This is a financial accounting and technical role with responsibility for statutory reporting, audit, and complex group accounting matters, including:

  • Ownership of statutory accounting and compliance across the group
  • Preparation and management of the external audit process
  • Statutory accounts preparation and review
  • Intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities
  • Ownership and maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Technical ownership of intercompany and property leases under IFRS 16
  • Liaison with external valuers on property valuations
  • Explanation of valuation movements and accounting judgements to auditors
  • Preparation of tax packs and support on tax planning activities
  • Cash flow reporting for private equity owners
  • Acting as a key technical point of contact for the CFO, business, auditors and external advisors

This role would suit a qualified accountant (ACA from a Top 10 firm, or ACCA / CIMA) who is either straight from practice or already working in a Financial Accountant or technical accounting role. You will be comfortable owning audit and statutory processes end to end and enjoy working in a role where technical judgement, structure, and accuracy really matter. An interest in lease accounting, property accounting, and IFRS 16 is beneficial, alongside a genuine ambition to progress into a Financial Controller role.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a role with a clear and credible route to Financial Controller, within a PE backed business. The role is technical and provides genuine stretch, while offering close day-to-day working with an experienced Group Financial Controller who will actively support your development. For someone looking to accelerate their career in a high-quality environment, this is an excellent opportunity.
