Baker Charles is partnering with a dynamic, customer-focused multisite restaurant business, part of a larger hospitality group, to appoint a commercially-minded Finance Director. This is a pivotal and high-impact leadership role at the heart of the senior leadership team, offering the opportunity to shape strategy, drive performance, and deliver meaningful insight at a time of opportunity and change. You will lead the finance function, influence operational strategy, and act as a trusted partner to the Divisional Managing Director, Board, and investors.
The Role
- You will have overall responsibility for the control and direction of all financial aspects of the division, ensuring the flow of accurate and actionable financial information to the senior leadership, Group team, and PE investors.
- You will also represent the business externally where required and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including bankers and auditors.
- Your remit will include:
- Leadership & Strategy
- Partner with the CEO and Executive Team to shape commercial and operational strategy.
- Define and drive the financial direction of the business, including annual budgets, financial objectives, and performance targets.
- Ensure divisional plans align with wider Group objectives.
- Lead and develop a small, high-performing finance team, managing and mentoring the Financial Controller and team.
- Business Performance & Insight
- Produce and deliver the monthly Executive Pack for Board-level meetings.
- Provide clear, actionable insight to inform operational and strategic decisions.
- Partner with the Operations Director to challenge and improve site-level performance through insightful commercial analysis.
- Lead on labour productivity reporting and analysis, and support revenue growth and profitability through robust business partnering.
- Commercial Analysis & Investment
- Evaluate new site openings, refurbishments, closures, and capital investments, ensuring accountability for delivery of returns.
- Work with Food & Marketing teams on menu profitability, pricing strategy, and product changes.
- Enhance and own financial modelling across revenue, cost of sales, labour, and other key drivers.
- Present commercial insights at monthly capex reviews, always seeking efficiencies and growth opportunities.
- Financial Accounting & Controls
- Maintain overall control of financial transactions, tax, and statutory accounts.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and tax requirements, and lead audit processes.
- Act as primary contact for the company’s bankers on trading and covenant matters.
- Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems, and outputs.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an energetic, hands-on, and commercially astute finance leader who is comfortable operating at pace in a customer-driven, multisite environment. You will be:
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Experienced in a senior finance leadership role in hospitality, retail, or other multisite sectors
- Skilled at managing and developing high-performing teams
- A credible, confident communicator able to influence from site level to Board level
- Commercially minded, strategic, and proactive
- Analytically strong with excellent financial modelling skills
- Collaborative and inquisitive, with a drive for continuous improvement
