Exciting opportunity to join a dynamic business in a senior finance role. This position is responsible for leading the financial reporting function, combining hands-on delivery with oversight of statutory reporting, balance sheet governance, and audit processes. The role focuses on ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance in financial statements, while driving process improvements and supporting senior stakeholders with timely, reliable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead statutory reporting, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
- Manage external audits and act as the technical accounting lead on complex areas such as leases, impairments, and other key judgments.
- Set and maintain robust balance sheet controls, including reconciliations, review processes, and documentation standards.
- Provide oversight, coaching, and development to the financial accounting team, fostering technical capability and resilience.
- Collaborate with management accounting to ensure alignment between management and statutory reporting outputs.
- Strengthen reporting processes, embed controls, and improve efficiency through scalable practices and tools.
- Liaise with external auditors, advisors, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
About You:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Strong experience in statutory reporting and technical accounting under UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Proven track record of managing external audits end-to-end, with excellent documentation and audit readiness.
- Hands-on experience with balance sheet governance, reconciliations, and key technical judgments.
- Process-oriented, with experience improving reporting cycles and embedding financial controls.
- Confident leader capable of coaching, developing, and managing a small finance team.
- Excellent communicator, able to translate technical accounting matters for senior stakeholders.
- Experience in multi-entity or complex reporting environments is advantageous.
