Salary: £65-75k (Depending on Experience) + excellent package Overview We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Senior Business Development Manager to lead growth across major construction, infrastructure, industrial and public sector markets throughout the UK.

This role is focused on identifying and securing high-value project opportunities, building strategic relationships with key stakeholders, influencing specifications at early project stages and converting opportunities into long-term business partnerships.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing business within complex project environments, managing long sales cycles and delivering sustainable revenue growth through strategic account development and new business acquisition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic business development plan to support UK growth objectives.
  • Identify, target and secure opportunities with major contractors, infrastructure organisations, consultants and public sector clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, including procurement professionals, project directors, construction managers and design teams.
  • Influence project specifications and requirements during the early stages of project development.
  • Create and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities across construction, infrastructure, utilities, transport, energy, industrial and public sector markets.
  • Manage strategic customer accounts and develop long-term partnerships.
  • Attend client meetings, industry events, exhibitions and networking opportunities.
  • Generate and qualify new business opportunities through market intelligence and proactive engagement.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasting and pipeline management through CRM systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop commercially competitive solutions and proposals.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and contractual terms within delegated authority levels.
  • Monitor market activity, competitor movements and emerging trends to support business growth.
  • Support the development of new solutions by communicating customer and market requirements.
  • Prepare regular sales, pipeline and performance reports for senior leadership.
  • Deliver agreed sales, margin and growth targets. Skills & Experience Essential
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in B2B business development or technical sales.
  • Proven track record of selling into major contractors, infrastructure organisations or large project environments.
  • Demonstrable success in securing significant project opportunities and delivering revenue growth.
  • Experience of specification sales, consultative selling or strategic business development.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and relationship management skills. Desirable
  • Experience working within construction, infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing or industrial sectors (Military, Aerospace, Defence, etc will be considered).
  • Established network of contacts within major contractors, project delivery organisations or end-user clients.
  • Engineering, technical or business-related qualification.
  • Professional qualification in Sales, Business Development, Marketing or a related discipline.
  • Training in consultative, solution-based or strategic selling methodologies.
  • Experience managing key accounts and developing long-term customer relationships.
  • Formal negotiation or commercial contracting training.
