Position focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance and mechanical integrity across Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical integrity assessments for high‑risk assets across all European sites.
  • Maintain and update the Mechanical Integrity Criticality Assessment Register.
  • Develop written schemes of examination (RBI/WSE) with external consultants.
  • Approve mechanical and structural designs for new or modified equipment.
  • Manage key capital projects at the Barry site, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
  • Collaborate with site leaders, maintenance teams, and engineering personnel to agree on repair plans and decisions from inspections.
  • Use SAP and other tools to report asset condition, inspection compliance, and identify end‑of‑life or overdue assets.

Required Education & Experience

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years in Mechanical or Project Engineering within chemical or process industries.
  • Proven experience managing Mechanical Integrity programmes, including:
    • Written Schemes of Examination (WSE)
    • Inspection planning
    • Degradation analysis
    • Repair execution
  • Strong understanding of EU standards and directives, such as:
    • Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU)
    • Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC)
    • Seveso Directive
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including working with non‑native English speakers.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Technical leadership as SME in mechanical integrity and structural design.
  • Project management from scope development through execution.
  • Analytical thinking for degradation mechanisms, failure modes, and material suitability.
  • Collaboration with cross‑functional teams and external consultants.
  • Systems knowledge: SAP for asset condition reporting.
  • Standard development experience (pipe classes, vessel design, metallurgy).
  • Willingness to travel up to one week at a time within Europe.
