WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

Tech Insights Group (TIG) at Bain & Company is a rapidly growing global team of world‑class consultants and technologists. We work with leading Private Equity (PE) investors and their tech‑enabled portfolio companies to act as technical advisors in investment processes. We conduct product and technology due diligence engagements and value creation assignments, leveraging our extensive expertise in software and understanding of commercial environments specific to tech‑enabled businesses. We deliver our projects by combining a team of consultants with CPOs and CTOs of leading global technology and software companies with decades of both advising and operating experience. The team has completed 400+ product and technology diligences and value creation engagements worldwide. Over the past 4 years, we supported our clients on some of the most visible technology investments in the US and Europe, including several of the Top 2024 and Top 2025 software deals. We conduct engagements spanning enterprise applications, vertical applications (HCIT, FinTech, EdTech), infrastructure software, cloud software, and tech enabled services (IT services, e‑Commerce, AdTech). We also help funds understand GenAI disruption potential and opportunities to inform their investment thesis. The Tech Insights Group operates within the Expert Client Delivery (ECD) team, a global capability area designed to provide support to clients across Europe and beyond through a single, globally organized team. TIG enhances our Private Equity Group (PEG) and General Consulting (GC) capabilities by offering specialized technical expertise to support our clients at every stage of the investment lifecycle from deal generation and due diligence to portfolio value creation and exit planning.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Joining Technology Insights Group (TIG) is an exciting opportunity to build a new and critical capability at Bain. You will work closely with the global Tech leadership and the regional private equity (PE) teams. At Bain, you will leverage your technology and consulting experience in actively contributing to projects, assessing key aspects of leading software companies for PE investors. You will help our clients strategically approach how technology will shape their businesses and solve some of the most challenging issues they face. Additionally, you will gain direct exposure to CEOs, Executives, and Private Equity professionals. This is a particularly exciting time to join the team – we have ambitious growth plans and you will be contributing to scaling a growing global capability within Bain & Company.

Responsibilities in Detail

• Lead and drive technology due diligence and value creation assignments on behalf of PE investors targeting software businesses.
• Actively contribute across the entire client engagement, from formulating the project scope to building and presenting the final report.
• Drive and support the primary and secondary research efforts of the team; collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data across a variety of sources.
• Conduct hypothesis‑led problem solving, communicate complex ideas, and approach problems strategically.
• Effectively develop and communicate recommendations and insights to the project team, PE investors, and technology leaders.
• Help to build and scale a new business, act as thought partner to Tech leadership on our growth and strategy.
• Enhance Bain’s Tech Insights Groups brand through external reputation building and marketing efforts.
• Invest in special initiatives and projects that help us scale the practice (ops/systems).

ABOUT YOU

The Expert Consultant, Technology Insights Group role requires passion for transformation, an entrepreneurial spirit, empathy, and technical aptitude. The following are highly valued:

• Passion for software: Demonstrate a passion for software as well as the tech industry more broadly (e.g., digital transformation, disruptive business models).
• 3+ years in a software or technology related position or industry; Technical diligence experience preferred.
• Ability to rapidly absorb and interpret technical information.
• Inquisitive mindset and eager to learn in a fast‑paced environment.
• Client service orientation and EQ: Passion for delivering high‑impact client results in a fast‑paced, evolving environment. Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional agility, ability to interface across any level at Bain and client organizations. Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and teamwork: Desire to join a rapidly growing startup within a leading strategy consulting firm. Entrepreneurial, curious, creative, and innovative thinking. Strong alignment with Bain operating principles. Strong teamwork ethos and ability to work with team members with diverse skills and backgrounds in an inclusive fashion. Demonstrated potential for developing and coaching junior team members. Direct management experience in a consulting or operating line preferred.
• Strong analytical capabilities and background: Analytical and data‑driven mindset. Aptitude for creative, quantitative, and qualitative problem solving. Undergraduate/Master’s degree from a top tier university in a relevant field (i.e., computer science, engineering, business management, information systems). MBA and Top tier consulting experience preferred.
