You'll be the senior engineer and team lead, partnering with the Product Lead to make key design decisions and recommend technical approaches.
You'll define how data moves through the platform, shape the AI agent architecture, establish how services integrate with Bain's broader technology platform, and set engineering standards across the workstream.
This is an opportunity to help shape a high-impact product from the ground up while remaining hands‑on with its development.
Alongside writing code, you'll lead the team's delivery cadence, remove blockers, maintain momentum against the roadmap, and help other engineers grow.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Architecture and technical governance
- Define and document the architecture for the Artemis workstream, ensuring alignment with the shared Demand Generation Suite platform design and Bain-wide Azure infrastructure.
- Make key technical design decisions across data flows, service boundaries, and integration patterns.
- Own the engineering quality bar for the workstream, including code reviews, test coverage expectations, pull request standards, and documentation practices.
- Ensure the team produces maintainable solutions that can be supported by a distributed engineering organization.
- Create, communicate, and maintain technical designs, architecture artifacts, best practices, and engineering principles for both technical and executive audiences.
- Platform integration
- Manage integration points between Artemis, other Demand Generation Suite applications, and Bain's wider technology platform.
- Define and maintain API contracts, agent and skill registry contributions, and shared user interface components.
- Support Artemis integrations with Bayesian marketing mix modelling capabilities and campaign performance data pipelines.
- Partner with AI Engineers to design large language model orchestration and tool‑calling architectures for Artemis‑specific agents, with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and cost efficiency at scale.
- Roadmap delivery and team leadership
- Partner with Product Managers to translate prioritized initiatives into clear technical scopes, estimate complexity, identify dependencies, and sequence work across the team.
- Own sprint‑level task assignment, remove blockers, and help the team deliver against committed timelines and roadmap priorities.
- Lead the workstream engineering team, including technical stand‑ups, workload management, and structured feedback.
- Support the growth of junior team members while maintaining a strong pace of delivery.
- Work effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Support recruiting activities, including resume screening and interviews.
- Innovation and emerging technologies
- Explore new approaches to complex business and technical challenges.
- Participate in technical discovery, proofs of concept, and innovation workstreams to assess new tools, technologies, and designs.
- Stay current on emerging developments across data, AI, and AI‑agent technologies, and share relevant knowledge with the wider team.
- Bring an entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to test new approaches.
- Turn ambiguous requirements into well‑scoped engineering work within a consulting‑adjacent product environment.
- 8-10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years as a staff architect or technical team lead responsible for delivering large features or complete products.

- A track record of building and operating scalable, cloud‑based business‑to‑business software products.
- Strong Python backend engineering experience using Fast API or an equivalent asynchronous framework.
- Proficiency in Type Script and React, with the ability to work effectively across the full technology stack.
- Deep experience with cloud‑native architecture on Azure, including Azure Container Apps, Azure Functions, infrastructure-as-code, and containerized deployments using Docker.
- Working knowledge of large language model APIs and agent orchestration frameworks, with the ability to make sound design decisions around agent structure, tool calling, and prompt management.
- Working knowledge of data pipeline architecture, including SQL schemas, extract‑transform‑load pipelines, analytical data stores, and data quality frameworks.
- Deep experience in either developing AI agents‑including long‑running or workflow‑based agents‑or data engineering in large‑scale, complex environments.
- Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams in a fast‑paced Agile environment.
- A track record of delivering successfully in Agile environments.
- Experience managing engineering teams, including resolving conflicts and dependencies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage communication across project stakeholders and external vendors.
