We are looking for a Quality Control Inspector to join our vibrant team. Joining an existing team led by the Programme Manager, the Quality Control Inspector (Clerk of Works) is responsible for monitoring construction quality on site, ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and statutory requirements. The role acts as the client's on site representative, providing impartial advice, documenting progress, and identifying issues before they become costly defects.
Working on various projects, including: new build traditional and timber frame housing, HRB reclad schemes, LWS apartment builds, listed buildings and retail across London and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and inspect ongoing work, including that of sub-contractors, to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Report any issues with workmanship or materials to the Project Manager and Principal Contractor.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports, manage task allocation, and track progress using tools like Fieldview.
- Adhere to reporting guidelines specific to our services.
- Maintain a detailed diary of work progress, noting potential delays, subpar workmanship or materials, site visitors, and weather conditions.
- Record and report any incidents that could disrupt project timelines to the Project Manager.
- Provide practical advice to the Project Manager to keep the building contract on track.
- Address queries related to drawings and specifications, ensuring coordination between project documents.
- Evaluate drawings during the pre-construction phase if requested.
- Attend project sites and provide services in line with the building contract requirements.
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, designers, and the client to resolve technical issues.
- Attend client meetings to report on quality.
- Complete snagging, defect inspections, and end of defect period reviews.
- Maintain detailed site inspection records, including progress photos, notes, and daily logs.
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong understanding of building regulations.
- Knowledge of construction methods and build sequences (timber frame, traditional build, steel frame, RC frame, facade works).
- Ability to read and understand drawings and details, specifications and contract documentation.
- Experienced working in construction at management level (site manager) in either a construction or Mechanical & Engineering field.
- Good communicator.
- Proficiency in using modern technology, including tablets and software such as View Point, Fieldview and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to use online portals such as View Point and Fieldview.
- MCIOB or MICWCI accreditation.
- Hold a valid CSCS card.
