Baillie Gifford’s business depends on providing clients with first-class investment performance and client service. The PR team sits within the broader Clients Department as part of the Global Marketing function, supporting brand building, client marketing, reputation and business development.
This position is based on-site in our London hub, where you will work with one PR colleague; the rest of the PR team is based at our HQ in Edinburgh.
ResponsibilitiesA new, exciting role has arisen – based in London - to help develop and support Baillie Gifford’s global PR strategy, working in a small team. The role will initially be focused on UK and European PR activity and will involve travel to Edinburgh and Europe. Due to the highly collaborative nature of the role's responsibilities, the position is office-based.
- Help manage PR agencies and our media programme in the UK and Europe.
- Co-ordinate interviews, comments, responses and content, working with our external PR agencies and internal teams.
- Develop and maintain journalist relationships across UK national and trade media.
- Host interviews as and when required.
- Develop PR ideas, angles and messaging for Baillie Gifford and its investment strategies.
- Evaluate and monitor media activity and share media coverage internally.
- Edit and co-ordinate the placement of Baillie Gifford content in target media.
- Run media training, prepare/edit briefing documents, and support our spokespeople for media interviews.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure an integrated approach - including marketing, social media and internal comms.
- Proven experience working in a PR or journalist role.
- Ability to generate and execute ideas creatively and to solve problems.
- Capable independent thinking and the confidence to work autonomously, using initiative.
- A genuine passion for communications.

Candidates should have proven experience in communications, public relations or journalism. Although marketing experience could prove beneficial, a pure marketing background would not be sufficiently transferable for the needs of the role. Candidates will have the ability to build rapport and relationships quickly and naturally, forged on trust and credibility. Strong strategic thinking and tactical skills are essential. The role will involve both proactive and reactive media relations, so strong adaptability and prioritisation skills are key.
