This role is critical, working within the Data Vendor Management team to manage, govern and oversee the firm's strategic data vendor requirements, while maintaining strong vendor relationships, cost management and ensuring adherence to licensing compliance requirements. The Data Vendor Manager works with data owners and users to support the Firms Data Strategy, providing analysis and guidance on data related vendors, which includes ensuring data is effectively obtained and used, at optimal quality, and at an appropriate cost across the Firm.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external data vendors across a number of data categories including Bloomberg, LSEG, MSCI amongst others.
- Have a detailed understanding of products and services, and act as the central point of contact for data vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements to ensure favourable terms and conditions.
- Build and conduct analysis to monitor vendor performance and ensure data usage complies with contractual and regulatory requirements alongside internal policies.
- Support the Firms Vendor Management Framework through regular interaction with data vendors and internal customers as well as coordinating vendor risk management and third-party due diligence processes.
- Provide analytical support to the firm on the use of data from data vendors, aligning with firmwide objectives and ensuring appropriate monitoring of spend, quality standards, and operational efficiencies.
- Provide the link into finance for negotiations with external parties on buying decisions and renewal of services.
- Work in partnership to achieve shared objectives.
- Support implementation of governance and risk policies for data vendor management that are aligned with the firm's frameworks and controls.
- Project work will be required at times in a delivery or advisory capacity.
Your knowledge and experience:
- Extensive experience across market data management within financial services, including understanding of market data contract law.
- Excellent vendor negotiation skills and strong commercial acumen, with ability to shape and negotiate deals to achieve optimal commercial terms.
- Ability to analyse and communicate complex commercial data.
- Manage financial processes, including invoice validation, internal cost allocations, and vendor balance accuracy.
- Experience in vendor risk management and third-party due diligence.
- A collaborative and resilient team player, adept to working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities, often to tight deadlines, and deliver results.
- Proficiency in data visualisation and reporting tools (Preferred).
- Experience maintaining and managing market data inventory to support business operations (Preferred).
