We are seeking a skilled CNC Turner / Programmer / Setter Operator to join our team at Bailey-Wareham to support the production of high-quality precision-engineered components within a professional workshop environment.

SALARY: circa. £40,000 per annum + Benefits
LOCATION: Poole, Dorset, South West
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: Generally, 7am – 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7am – 1pm Friday (flexibility available on regular and start/finish times)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a CNC Turner / Programmer / Setter Operator to join a growing engineering team based on the South Coast. This role offers stability, responsibility and the opportunity to work with modern CNC equipment.
As a CNC Turner / Programmer / Setter Operator, you will be responsible for programming, setting and operating multi-axis CNC lathes, producing precision components to specification while maintaining high quality standards. The CNC Turner / Programmer / Setter Operator role is a senior, hands-on position within a small team, providing variety, autonomy and the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement within the machining function.

DUTIES
- Programming CNC Lathes: Reviewing, editing and adjusting CNC programs as required
- Machine Set-Up and Operation: Setting and operating CNC lathe machines using FANUC control systems
- First-Off Production: Carrying out dry runs and producing accurate first-off components
- Technical Drawing Interpretation: Reading and working from engineering drawings and specifications
- Quality Inspection: Using shop floor measuring and inspection equipment to maintain standards
- Batch Oversight: Safely delegating and overseeing the running of production batches
- General Engineering Tasks: Supporting associated machining and workshop activities
- Team Communication: Working collaboratively with colleagues to meet production targets
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Previous experience in a CNC Turner, Programmer or Setter Operator role
- Proven experience setting and operating CNC lathes
- Experience with FANUC control systems
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Competence using workshop inspection and measuring equipment
- Strong communication skills with a flexible, professional approach
DESIRABLE
- Experience with sliding head lathes
- Exposure to CNC milling machines
- Background in precision engineering or manufacturing environments
