A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to support their busy Family department. This role requires someone organised, proactive and steady under pressure, able to deliver first-class support to fee earners and an excellent service to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client contact by phone and in person, handling straightforward queries and updates
- Liaising with third parties including barristers and support organisations
- Managing diaries, appointments and conflict checks
- Opening new files and ensuring accurate file management
- Fast, accurate audio typing and document production
- Assisting with statements, briefs for counsel, court bundles and family applications
- Supporting with Legal Aid paperwork and incoming post during absence
- Providing flexible team support across the department
Experience & Skills:
- Previous legal secretarial experience (Family law experience essential)
- Strong typing skills and familiarity with legal software
- Excellent communication, grammar and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise, stay calm under pressure and maintain confidentiality
- Team-focused with the initiative to work independently when needed
