We have a unique opportunity to deliver painting and decorating skills training within a newly developed Training Academy to shape the training of the next generation of Bagnalls decorators. We are looking for a talented individual who can help Bagnalls to increase the numbers of trained apprentices across our business. You should be a motivated and experienced Painter and Decorator with experience of training apprentices and a passion for developing their skills.
Please note that our Training Academy will be based in Armley, Leeds. Bagnalls is a trusted, family-owned, national painting contractor, established in 1875, with 14 branches across the UK. We are proud of our reputation for delivering high-quality painting and decorating services, with a commitment to long-term relationships and outstanding results. Many of our team have been with us for decades, reflecting our supportive culture and investment in career development.
The role involves the delivery of teaching technical painting and decorating skills to apprentices which will allow them to undertake their site role to the highest standard. Your support will also help them to achieve the requirements of the college to pass their apprenticeship, including undertaking their End Point Assessment (EPA). You will be helping students prepare for their assessments and competitions in a combination of theory and practical teaching. You will have responsibility for health and safety and equipment maintenance within the Academy. You will also deliver specific health and safety training. You will be teaching a syllabus created in conjunction with Doncaster College which includes everything from wallpapering and cutting in to colour wheel and hazard perception.
This is a key role within the company and is important to helping Bagnalls create a pathway of highly skilled qualified painters. The successful applicant will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. You will be a responsible role model that apprentices can look up to whilst at the Academy.
- NVQ Level 3 in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent)
- Experience of working on a range of commercial painting and decorating contracts including highly decorative work
- Knowledge of health and safety within the painting and decorating industry, including producing risk assessments and method statements and implementing these on site
- Helpful and flexible approach to day-to-day tasks
- Competence in using Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Word
- Full driving licence
- Experience of painting and decorating and/or paper hanging competitions
- Teaching or training qualifications and/or experience

We will also support the successful candidate through teaching qualifications where appropriate.
