In this high‑impact role, you’ll support both commercial and operational teams by gathering, analysing and presenting intelligence that shapes new services, proposals and product development. You’ll work across a wide variety of opportunities — building a strong pipeline that connects the organisation to funding streams that matter.
- Monitor national, regional and local policy developments across energy, climate and housing — identifying opportunities for funded programmes.
- Track industry and competitor activity, including mergers, tech innovation and sector trends.
- Conduct research into CSR/ESG strategies, social value commitments and sustainability reporting to uncover potential funding sources.
- Analyse business plans from key organisations such as utility companies, housing providers and public health bodies.
- Carry out SWOT, competitor and market analyses to support business cases.
- Produce briefings and insight reports to support bids, meetings and stakeholder engagement.
- Work with business development and growth leads to identify and qualify new funding and contract opportunities.
- Contribute to the early development of new service concepts, commercial ideas and product innovations.
- Map timelines, priorities and funding windows against current and future services to inform strategic planning.
- Keep a clear log of insights, research and stakeholder interactions to support coordinated planning.
- Participate in internal scoping meetings and help shape research priorities.
- Present findings through engaging written summaries, visual reports, presentations or dashboards.
- Produce short profiles, funder summaries and themed opportunity reports when potential growth areas are identified.
- Support the creation of tailored tender content, proposals and engagement materials based on your insights.
What you’ll need (Essential)

- Experience in research, strategy or policy analysis role.
